“Smash and grab” makes way for “little and often”

smash-and-grab

It’s ironic that given we are on the precipice of a terrible world recession which could mean complete meltdown with Greece the first to tumble, there are still cars which are not only selling well but are more expensive than ever. This of course is not necessarily down to September being the 2nd biggest new car sales month of the year or that … [Read more...]

September just isn’t happening

092011

September just isn’t happening! Well that’s according to many car dealers across the land who are saying that their September new car order bank is half of what it should be. According to many people in the trade the valuation gap between Glasses and CAP guides has widened to such an extent that professional car buyers do not really understand the market. It seems that there really are two separate arenas for retail pricing; one dictated by CAP and one by Glasses. It is generally assumed that the data collected by … [Read more...]

Scrappage clawback?

clawback

The much lauded scrappage scheme may not have been quite the saviour of the UK motor industry than perhaps it might have been. Word is reaching us that many manufacturers and their dealerships are being hit with big demands for money from the government seeking to claw back funds for what it calls “non-compliance”. It could very well be the … [Read more...]

Order takers stand aside – it’s time to get back to selling cars

As September approaches dealers are scratching their heads thinking about how to encourage sales, which have been affected by various events. The scrappage scheme has ended, get over it

Dealers are really feeling the effect of the end of scrappage. The good times certainly rolled whilst the scheme was in place to the extent that many dealers would be excused for thinking that the recession was happening somewhere else. Those good times have long since passed but it seems many sales execs just haven’t switched on to the fact … [Read more...]
