Gee i thought it was only me that thought like that! it doesnt end with buying the car you then have the reconditioning costs, smart repairs, and also to repair all the faults that the previous owner knew about and had been driving around ignoring them, Previous Owners Last Words "Im sorry to see it go, its a great car ive never had to spend a penny on it" Previous Owners Last Thoughts (Thats why its on its last legs and you will have to spend a fortune on it if you ever want to sell it)

The present situation is also allowing some very bad salesmen to hide in plain sight, ie the ones who have no idea how to use Glass's Guide, or they do an appraisal of the part exchange vehicle whilst sitting at their desk and peering at it through the showroom window, so your short of stock and you underwrite it over the phone on their discription and you go to pick it up, you find it has the engine management light on, the engines missfiring, the air cons not working, its over due service, the bumpers are scuffed, the exhausts blowing. it needs dedenting, the windscreens chipped, the tyres are bald, and it has 24 hour MOT, youve given £500 over book for it, but hey they are sorry and they will make it up on the next vehicle, NOT

on the other hand it could just be my 30 years in the motor trade that have made me cynical, bitter and twisted

You've got to laugh

You got it in one "Supply and Demand" if you dont buy then somebody else will, yes prices are crazy at Auction, but that does'nt stop the hands shooting up, I tried the "Im not paying that price" formula, didnt work ! just found myself with lots of empty spaces on the forecourt. The fact remains that people are still buying good used cars (note the word "Good") we as dealers either mark them up at silly prices and hope someone will buy, or, we swallow the increase and take a smaller profit (much smaller !!) but, better a little of something than alot of nothing! As the old adage go's, "You cant sell empty spaces"
