VW Tiguan – The People’s Reviewer – Week two

Posted on July 13th, 2009 by In51der in Blog, Competition, Manufacturers

Week two of the Volkswagen Tiguan challenge to find the “People’s Reviewer” saw three new contestants take to the streets with a variety of innovative review scenarios. From family holidays in Dorset, towing a large “recreational vehicle” as the Americans put it and, um, a “mobile disco” (!)

“Axe man” Patrick Molyneux – a 46-year old lead guitarist in rock band “The Mighty Fog” (no, we’ve never heard of them either) – planned to pack his five-strong family (plus dog, tent and barbecue grill) and head down to Swanage on a real life “Five Go Mad in Dorset” camping trip.

People’s Reviewer Johnny Hindle seems intent on pushing the Tiguan to its performance limits: He plans to test the Tiguan’s towing capacity by hooking it up to a Winnebago but only after he’s seen if it will spin out donuts in a local park.

Nottingham based Di Coke had a more eclectic and musical journey in mind. She planned to harness the car’s sound system to host a mobile disco for friends and strangers she meets along the way, culminating in “gate-crashing” a local Caribbean carnival close to home. Hope the bass holds up!

While the heat 2 contestants spread out across the UK voting began on the heat 1 video reviews. Visit The People’s Reviewer to cast your vote. By doing so you could win a year’s worth of luxury, or an extended test drive of the Tiguan.

I see that I got a small mention on your web page….I am afraid that I need to correct you!!! NOT content with towing an 8 tonne Winnebago around the local industrial estate, I commandereed a local racing driver, and got him to attach his van, with a race car inside, and on the back of that was a box trailer, with another race car inside that! So…If you could kindly amend your editorial I would be very grateful! It’s a shame to go to these efforts, and then be mis-reported! If you want to see the video, just click on the web link. There are more fun antics on my YouTube page.

Fair play to you Johnny, happy to put the record straight! How’s the Tiguan???

    3. Johnny Hindle

      Hi Admin,

My totally unbiasewd opinion is it that the Tiguan is a terrific car!!! I really didn’t expect to find something that ticks so many boxes! The performance it great, the road holding is superb, there is more room inside it than I thought possible, and it looks lovely! It has typical Volkswagen quality too. Whilst I like what big 4×4 can do, I am not a fan of them being so huge, and just driven to the shops! I want to see them covered in mud, doing manly things! The Tiguan is jsut that little bit small in size, but as you have seen, shows great potential and ability… i just hope I get the chance to have another go with it, and cake it in mud! I wonder how far the dirt kicking out of the back wheels would go if I switched of the traction control? Hopefully enough people will vote for me, and I can show them!

      Sorry about my dreadful spelling!

    5. admin

Johnny, please don’t worry about the spelling. You shouldn’t concern yourself with such matters. Do you think Jeremy Clarkson worries about spelling? No, of course not. That’s what editors are for! Cheers for the mini review ;->
