UK distributor I.M. Group has revealed that it will begin importing cars made by China's Great Wall Motor Co. into the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia commencing in 2011 after first launching distribution in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in 2010.
I.M. Group did not state which Great Wall models it will distribute but said the Chinese carmaker has designed and built models specifically to meet EU whole-vehicle type approval standards. Great Wall unveiled the “Phenom” at the Guangzhou auto show earlier this year and said the model was designed to meet European New Car Assessment Program standards and would be exported to Europe in the future.
Founded in 1976, I.M. Group is an importer and distributor for the Japanese brands Subaru, Isuzu and Daihatsu and has operated in the Chinese market for over 15 years, currently employing 40 people at its Beijing office.
